Ripon artist, Heather Dormer, is holding another of her popular
watercolour and pastel workshops at Kiplin Hall on Friday 11 July
between 10am and 4pm. Heather, who has a degree in Fine Art, is a
qualified teacher and has exhibited her pastel painting widely
throughout Yorkshire. She draws inspiration from the strong, bold,
colourful images in nature and buildings. Some of her recent works have
explored dales architecture, dales wild flower meadows and reflections
in the Lake District.
The day’s workshop begins with a demonstration of various techniques.
Tuition will be friendly, helpful and sympathetic to the needs of the
individual. Sources of inspiration will be discussed as well as development of
ideas using the vibrancy of pastels and the luminosity of watercolour. Heather
will also show how useful the sketchbook is for composition textural ideas and
as a ‘living diary’. This is a day designed for those of all abilities and
Heather will offer plenty of help and guidance to each student, from beginners
to more experienced painters. She will also be happy to assist anyone who wishes
to join this course who prefers to work in alternative mediums. . Heather said,

variety in the building and the surrounding gardens and parkland offer a lot of
scope for artists - the grounds are excellent for colour and light observation.

Please book in advance as places are limited to 20. Participants are
requested to bring their own materials, if available, and a packed lunch.
